With the increasing focus of the government on agriculture, now educated youth are making a career in it. Sanket Dilip Punalekar from Sawantwadi taluka of Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra tried his hand at agriculture after completing his graduation in Agricultural Science. He was successful in this and today he is earning more than Rs 15 lakh in profit.
2 months course
Sanket made up his mind to join farming after graduation. For this, he did a two-month course. Sanket underwent entrepreneurial skills training organized at Oros, Krishna Valley Advanced Agriculture Foundation, Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra. After this he established 'Sneh Cashew'. He says that cashew is often considered a 'poor man's crop and rich man's food' and is an important cash crop and valuable nut in the global market.

Started cultivation of cashew
The Indian cashew industry has untapped potential to support the livelihood of cashew farmers, provide multiple employment opportunities and improve returns through global trade. According to the management, he is cultivating cashew crop in his 5 acres of land.
Started cashew processing business with Rs 15 lakh
After doing the course, Sanket established a cashew processing unit with a total processing capacity of 10 tonnes of cashew with a capital of Rs 15 lakh. He collaborated with 80 farmers to buy raw cashew nuts. Cashew processing is a series of unit operations necessary to provide edible nuts. The variation in processing method between different manufacturers is due to differences in cashew nuts. He is involved in commercial cashew processing.
